Quick, Draw!
Kids sketch a named object in 20 seconds while a computer tries to guess what it is.
Quick, Draw! is a speedy doodling game from Google in which a computer tries to guess the drawing. The game names something, a bicycle say, and allows just 20 seconds. While the player sketches, a neural network calls out guesses in real time, and the round ends once it recognizes the picture; if time runs out, it simply moves to the next word. At the end of a game, kids can scroll back through their drawings next to what the computer thought each one was. It reads as a playful first glimpse of how machine learning spots patterns in pictures, and the wildly wrong guesses look likely to get a laugh. Rounds are quick, so it seems to work well passed around a table. Since each prompt appears as a written word, it suits kids who can read a little; younger ones may want someone to read it out.
