Aqua – Adobe for Kids
Kids draw, color, design outfits, make comics and turn drawings into 3D objects on a map of creative islands.
Aqua is a drawing and design app from Adobe, pitched at kids and the grown-ups beside them. It opens on a map of islands, each devoted to a different kind of making. On one, kids build comic worlds and anime-style heroes; on Fashion Island they sketch and style outfits; elsewhere, short lessons from working artists walk through brushstrokes and color. 3D Dunes looks like the showpiece – a flat drawing becomes a three-dimensional object that kids can place in the room through augmented reality. A pass-the-device game has family members take turns adding to one creature. Paper drawings can be scanned and carried on digitally, children’s book illustrators share drawing and storytelling tips, and finished work goes up in a personal Aqua Museum. The spread of islands seems to suit both a careful eleven-year-old and a scribbling five-year-old.
