Dance Mat Typing

Kids learn touch typing from a troupe of dancing animals across four levels of short stages.

Dance Mat Typing is a BBC Bitesize game that introduces touch typing through a cast of animal characters, who cheer, dance and coach children through home-row typing one small group of keys at a time. There are four levels with three stages apiece, twelve in all, beginning at the home keys and working out to the top and bottom rows. Each stage points to the finger to use, asks for short letter strings and then words, and ends with a celebratory dance. Kids move at their own speed and can hop back to any level for another go. The bright, bouncy style seems tuned to younger children. It looks like a gentle first step on the keyboard ahead of a longer typing course.
