Reading
Literacy Cloud
Room to Read’s Literacy Cloud is an online library of children’s books, with read-aloud videos and material for adults who help children read.
Stories in the collection were developed locally and come in several languages and reading levels. Selected titles also have a read-aloud video, a second way into the same book. A family could read one familiar story, then pick another set somewhere less familiar and talk about the pictures afterward.

What kids do
- Read a story in a local language
- Watch a read-aloud video
- Visit a story set somewhere new
- Talk about a character’s choices
Who it suits
Pitched at early readers, and at younger children hearing a story with a grown-up. Starting in the child’s strongest language with a short text is one approach.
Notes for parents
The read-aloud videos are separate from the books and cover only some titles. Training resources for adults who support reading are part of the site as well.
