Reading

Read Along by Google

Read Along by Google pairs stories and word games with an on-screen reading companion that listens as a child reads aloud.

The child reads the words out loud, the companion responds, and the story moves on. Google describes a multilingual library with stories from several partners. Children who are happy talking to a device will probably get on with it sooner than a shy reader.

What kids do

  • Read a story aloud
  • Listen for reading help
  • Play word games
  • Try reading in another language

Who it suits

Made for children practicing reading aloud, whatever their level.

Notes for parents

Because the companion listens, a quiet room suits it better than a busy one. On a computer, the feedback relies on the microphone.

What you need
