Digital Dialects

Digital Dialects is a language-learning site with vocabulary games, word lists, flashcards and audio exercises in a long list of languages.

Small topics such as numbers, colors, animals and food each get a short word set followed by a matching or recognition game. Its language list reaches past the usual choices to include several Polynesian languages. Some sections move on to spelling and more advanced study.

What kids do

  • Practice numbers
  • Learn color words
  • Match animal names
  • Listen to pronunciation

Who it suits

Geared to readers who can handle short vocabulary quizzes. Instructions are written, so a pre-reader would need someone alongside.

Notes for parents

It is a general language site rather than one built only for children. How much audio there is, and which exercises, differs from language to language. Some pages show advertising.
