Toy Theater

Short learning games mixed with virtual manipulatives, creative tools and classic puzzles.

Toy Theater’s math side includes fraction strips, a geoboard, an interactive clock and a multiplication chart. Beyond numbers there are letter and spelling activities, online books, art and music tools, pixel art and strategy games. With the open tools, a child can build or arrange an answer rather than just name it.

What kids do

  • Compare fraction strips
  • Set times on an interactive clock
  • Build on a geoboard
  • Make pixel art
  • Try Animation Station

Who it suits

Aimed at elementary-aged children. Open-ended tools sit next to quick games, so a child who likes to tinker and one who wants a short round can both find something.

Notes for parents

The manipulatives don’t come with a built-in goal; a question from a grown-up gives them shape. The publisher lists desktop computers, tablets and phones as ways in. The site seems to run on advertising.

What you need
