SolveMe Mobiles
Kids balance hanging mobiles of shapes to figure out what each shape is worth.
SolveMe Mobiles is a set of balance puzzles from math educators at EDC. Every puzzle is a hanging mobile, like the kind strung over a crib, with shapes dangling from its arms. Because the mobile hangs level, both sides must weigh the same, and that single clue is what kids use to work out each shape’s value. The first puzzles give way to a little guessing and thinking, while later ones appear to slip in the reasoning behind algebra equations without ever calling it that. The app lists 200 puzzles across Explorer, Puzzler and Master levels, with badges along the way, and children can build mobiles of their own to stump a friend. On the website, two more puzzle styles, Who Am I? and MysteryGrid, sit alongside.
