Hungry Caterpillar Play School

Kids trace letters, count, paint, make music and listen to stories in a preschool built around Eric Carle’s caterpillar.

Hungry Caterpillar Play School recasts Eric Carle’s picture-book world as a whole preschool, and StoryToys describes it as Montessori-inspired, with hands-on, self-paced learning. From its lesson areas, kids trace and sound out letters, count and compare numbers one to ten, sort and match in problem-solving puzzles, and look at science and nature alongside the caterpillar. Separate art and music corners invite painting and sound-making, and short guided meditations seem meant for winding down. A sizeable library of picture books, songs and videos sits alongside, with titles like Slowly, Slowly, Slowly Said the Sloth. The torn-paper collage style matches the books closely. Families who already own a shelf of Carle books may find it feels like an extension of story time.
