Dr. Panda Town Tales

Kids wander a town of shops, homes and odd corners, moving characters around to invent their own stories.

Picture a dollhouse stretched over an entire town and that is roughly how Dr. Panda Town Tales presents itself. The developer lists around 30 locations: a family house, supermarket, school and park, then a shopping mall, a cruise out to tropical islands, an animal-themed amusement park and a magic castle. Kids can try on jobs such as police officer, hair salon owner or vet, play arcade games for tickets, poke around ancient ruins and an underwater city, and hatch dragon eggs in an enchanted café. Roughly 35 characters can be dressed, moved and paired up. Nothing in the listing points to goals or timers, so play seems to run wherever a child takes it. The publisher pitches it at ages 6 to 8, and confident scene-setters a little younger might take to it as well.
