Chrome Music Lab

A collection of browser experiments for playing with sound, pattern and rhythm.

Chrome Music Lab is a set of small experiments that turn sound into something visible on screen. In Song Maker, a child can put together a short composition and share it. Other experiments link music to science, maths and art. There’s no lesson sequence; it is open-ended play.

What kids do

  • Compose in Song Maker
  • Compare sound patterns
  • Clap along to a composition
  • Pair music with movement

Who it suits

Google doesn’t attach an age to it. Little ones tend to enjoy it next to an adult, while older children can wander through the experiments by themselves.

Notes for parents

The experiments open in browsers on phones, tablets and laptops without an account. One family game: make a short pattern, change a single part, and listen for what changed.
