Alphablocks: How to Write

Kids trace pre-writing lines, letters and numbers with the Alphablocks, each letter paired with a short rhyme.

Alphablocks: How to Write is a handwriting app that begins before letters. Kids first trace pre-writing lines, the zigzags, curves and loops meant to build finger control, then move on to letters and the numbers zero to nine. From the store description, each letter has a short rhyme explaining how to form it, and the letters sit in four families, Bouncy, Straight Line, Curly and Zigzag, so similar shapes get practiced together. A story ties it together: the Alphablocks and Numberblocks have lost their way, and each traced letter brings them closer to home, where kids can decorate and customize a house. It looks aimed at children just starting to grip a pencil; confident writers would likely breeze through the early stages.

Another Blue Zoo app from the Alphablocks and Numberblocks team. The lost-letters story seems to give each tracing session a small goal to work toward.
